Subject search boxes should only be used on the Welcome page, not on Topic pages.
Use the subject search as the primary search. Search for genuine subject headings as provided under subject term in the TAFEcat records.
Remove special signs when searching for subject headings e.g. Aboriginal Australians--Land tenure search for Aboriginal Australians Land tenure.
Use keywords only for niche and difficult subject areas such as specific software e.g. Microsoft Office. Search for the software name using the subject field because the software name is recorded in the title subject.Using the subject field search will also remove unwanted results such as LinkedIn.com videos.
Use only subject heading search results that retrieve at least three items.
If a lot of items are retrieved, limit by date descending.
Add the genuine subject headings exactly as displayed on the TAFEcat e.g. Native title (Australia) without the full stop. Aboriginal Australians--Land tenure.
List a maximum of 10 subjects only.
