Standards and Guidelines: Deeplinking to Searches

• You can provide subject links on specific subjects in eResources.
• Use the subject search as primary search. Search for genuine subject headings e.g. Library of Congress Subject Headings to achieve more precise results.
• Use keywords only for niche and difficult subject areas such as specific software e.g. Microsoft Teams. 

Naming of search links

• If you provide the search links in the box with the database asset, you can just use to name of the subject search with the following wording (modifythe wording to the item type you are using).

Linking to searches

• Use the Add/Reorder > Link feature to add the search links.
• Use sentence case for the name of the search. 
• Use the permalink or persistent links to link to the search results.

• Submit some test searches to work out the best subject term/s to use.
• Give preference to narrower terms e.g. Organization management instead of Management.
• Combine subject terms in your subject search e.g. Financial management AND Risk management.
• Decide on limiters e.g. number of pages, published date start, language, peer-reviewed.
• Ensure to tick full-text.
• Use advanced search to enter your search terms and limiters.
• Check that the result list is useful.
