Standards and Guidelines: LibGuide Descriptions

Guide Descriptions (REQUIRED)

  • Only add course coverage descriptions to guides if needed for clarification.
  • Add descriptions by using the Click to enter a description under the LibGuide title.
  • Update the description when new content is added to the guide that broadens the scope of the guide to other courses or vice versa.
  • Do not use abbreviate course names. Define abbreviations and acronyms the first time you use them. Write the names of courses in full, followed by the abbreviation in brackets e.g. English for Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) - see also Abbreviations.
  • Do not abbreviate qualification levels.
  • Separate the listed courses with a comma.
  • For up to 3 courses, use the course names as provided at https://www.tafensw.edu.au/ e.g. Certificate III in Bricklaying/Blocklaying, Certificate III in Solid Plastering and Certificate II in Construction Pathways

Use the following guidance to complete the description if more than 3 courses are covered by a subject LibGuide:

  1. More than 3 courses with the same name but different qualification levels: Use the full name of the courses starting with the qualification levels e.g. Certificates and diploma in building and construction
  2. More than 3 courses with different names but the same qualification levels e.g. Certificates in warehousing and forklift technology
  3. More than 3 courses with different names and different qualification levels e.g. Certificates, diplomas and shortcourses in interactive media, 3D animation and games

 

Description Not Required - Examples

The following guide names do not need clarification as they can easily be assigned to relevant courses and therefore do not require a description.

Racing
