Standards and Guidelines: Topics Pages

Essential - Topics

Top level page - Topics
  • Please note that the top level page is reserved for the topics index which will be automatically generated when sub-pages are added to to the top level page.
  • DO NOT add any content or box to the top level page because that will prevent the generation of the index.
Sub-pages of topics
  • You need at least two topics for a topics drop down menu. If you have only one topic, use the top level page for your topic.
  • Use clear and concise names for your topics. Do not use competency numbers or names of units.
  • Create a friendly URL for each topic page.
  • Add only content that is topic specific.
  • Ensure pages are of appropriate length to minimise scrolling.
  • Topics should be sorted alphabetically.

Combining Topics

It is not always necessary to have a whole page for every topic. Where topics are related or have only small amounts of content, they can be placed together on the same topic page.

For example, see Agricultural Chemicals: Chemical Application and Calibration of Equipment.
