Library Guides Life Cycle: Welcome

Best Practice in Library Guide Development

The following are the key principles underpinning the development of TAFE NSW Library Guides:

  • Our guides are curated and support a subject area or library support service
  • Our guides provide a range of resources that are current and do not limit access for students
  • Our guides are not overwhelming and provide volume of learning material for courses, they are not meant to be used in place of other course material
  • Our guides are flexible and agile
  • Our guides are available to the public beyond TAFE NSW. We do not create private guides.

Our guides include:

  • Library Subject Guides - covering broad subject areas (several courses and qualification levels may be covered by the same guide).
  • Higher Education Guides - course guides developed to provide access to resources, and prescribed and recommended content.
  • Support Guides - support for our resources and library services.
  • FIT Owned Guides - support guides that are maintained by a specific FIT, according to the FIT scope.
  • Internal Support Guides - to support the work on Library Guides.
  • Promotion and Events Guides - developed by members of the Promotion and Events FIT to support approved state-wide library events.
