If you want to search for a specific VSI book you use the search box named Very Short Introductions and enter your search term e.g. Art history and submit your search.
At the next screen you can modify your search. For the best result select the following filters:
- Book editions (tick Latest edition only)
- Format (select Book)
Selecting these filters will give you the most relevant result searching for VSI books.
Click on the title to access the content list. You can then view single chapters.
You can browse publications by subject. At the homepage click the main subject e.g. Science and Mathematics.
On the left-hand side, you have the option to filter the results further by minor subject e.g. Biological Sciences.

On the top of the result list you see the categories you have selected. The results are sorted by Date - Newest First, you have the option in the drop-down menu to change this to sort by Relevance or by Title.
You can now click on any title of the series that you wish to view, e.g. Insects: a very short introduction.
The Oxford Academic platform gives you access to our VSI subscription as well as to Oxford open access journals and other free content. To search all content available, use the search box in the right top corner and enter your search term e.g. Climate change.
At the results page you can narrow your search.
Add additional terms to your search by clicking on Add term. You can combine your terms by using the operator AND, OR or NOT. To update your search click the Update button.
It is important to tick the following filters under Availability to get full-text content only:
For Book editions select Latest edition only.
You can also adjust the Date range e.g. From 2018 January will show you only results published after January 2018.

You can print or save a chapter or an article. Click on the 3 dots at the right top corner of your browser and select Print.
Then you can either save it as PDF or select the printer from the drop down menu if one is available.
The citations can be copied and pasted directly into a document. You may need to adjust the citation to comply with TAFE NSW referencing guidelines.
