Support for Students

Support for students on campus

Issues with your account

  • If you cannot log into ProQuest eBook Central and other TAFE NSW sites like the TAFE NSW Student Hub, visit the Student Administration Office at your local campus to get help with your account. Please note that only current TAFE NSW students and staff have access to ProQuest eBook Central.

Technical issues

  • Library staff on campus may be able to assist you, but please note we cannot troubleshoot and support all devices. You are welcome to access ProQuest eBook Central via computers on campus.

Navigation issues

  • See the Searching and Features tab. Library staff on campus are also happy to help you use ProQuest eBook Central.

 

Support for TAFE NSW Digital students

For help with accounts, please contact your teacher, visit the Student Administration Office at your local campus or call 131 601.

 

Student Technology Help Desk

TAFE NSW students can call the Student Technology Help Desk on 131 601 and follow the prompts for help to connect to ProQuest eBook Central on your own device.

 

Ask a Librarian Service

You can use the online chat service provided by TAFE NSW library staff to ask for help during library opening hours.

 

Online Sessions

TAFE NSW library services provide 30 minute online sessions to help you use electronic resources including eBooks. Check the calendar and register for a session.

Support for Staff

Access to ProQuest eBook Central access is set up using Single Sign On (SSO).

Technical and account issues:

  • For TAFE NSW account issues, you can log a ServiceNow call (staff only). Let ICT know that access to ProQuest eBook Central is provided using SSO.
  • Your local campus library can also help with navigation and minor technical issues.

Training

  • Library staff are available to run training sessions for you and your students. Contact your campus library for more information.
  • The library service provides regular online sessions to help you use electronic resources including eBooks. Check the calendar and register for a session.

FAQs

  

You do not need to create a ProQuest eBook Central account. When you log in with your TAFE NSW username and password, an account will be created for you automatically.

  

You can reset your Adobe ID password by following the instructions found in the Adobe helpsheet Reset or change your Adobe password. Please note that when you reset your password you will need to re-authorise your Adobe apps where required.

  

The download button is greyed out because the book you selected is not available for a full download. You can download a chapter instead. Go to the Chapter download tab for instructions.

  

If the book is available for a full download, you can select a period from 1 day to up to 21 days depending on the publishers restrictions.

  

If you see the message In use that means all copies are currently in use. Just try again later. If a book is very popular, we recommend to try again later in the day or in the early morning.

  

Yes, you can find eBooks in the TAFE NSW Library Catalogue.

 

  

When you make a note or any other annotation in an eBook it is automatically saved with the annotations to your Bookshelf. To review the annotations, go to your Bookshelf and click on Annotated Books.

  

When you download a chapter it will download as a PDF and will not expire.

  

ProQuest eBooks keeps a record of the books that you have viewed. To view these books go to the Bookshelf and select Recently Viewed

  

  • If you do not know or have forgotten your password, you can reset it by following the instructions in the Student self-service: Password reset guide. Remember, this only works in a browser like Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, not on a login screen on a TAFE Library or classroom device.
  • Alternatively, contact your local campus Student Administration Office or call 131 601.
  • Library staff may also be able to reset your password. After asking you a number of security questions, they can give you a temporary password that you need to reset as soon as possible.
