To download eBooks for offline reading you will need to download Adobe Digital Editions to the devices that you want to use for downloading eBooks. The ADE is available as a desktop and mobile app.
Please note that some books are not available for full download.
If you have not already downloaded the app, you will be prompted to get the app when downloading an eBook.
A free Adobe ID is also required to authorise the ADE applications.
​Submit a request at Adobe Digital Editions Learn & Support if you are having any problems with the app.
An Adobe ID is an account created through the Adobe.com website. The Adobe ID is your email address and a password that you create. This is the ID you will need if you are using Adobe products such as Acrobat and Adobe Digital Editions.
If you already have an ID you do not need to create another one.
In the ADE app click the menu icon on the top left corner of the screen. Then select Settings and click Authorize. Enter your Adobe ID and your password and click Authorize.
Please note that if you have forgotten your Adobe password and you need to reset it, you will have to re-authorise your Adobe apps where required.
Login to ProQuest eBook Central with your TAFE NSW username and password.
Search for the title that you would like to download. If the book is available for full download, the Download Book option will be activated. This will allow you to download the book for varying periods up to 21 days.
Click Download Book which will guide you through the download process.
1. Select the device you are using
2. You will be asked to get Adobe Digital Editions. If you already have it installed, click on Done with this step.
3. Select loan length, the maximum is 21 days. On the same screen select the download format - PDF or ePUB if available. Then click Download.
4. The ACSM file will be downloaded. Double-click on the ACSM file which will open the file in the ADE bookshelf.
Step 4 for mobile devices using Chrome
The downloaded ACSM file will appear at the bottom of your screen. Click on Open and then select the ADE icon.
Step 4 for iOS mobile devices using Safari
To access the ACSM file click on the downloads icon then click on the ACSM file which appears below the icon. Click on the uploads icon and then select the ADE icon.
